Post: Function of shock absorbers

Some shock absorbers allow the ride to be adjusted by controlling the valves through manual adjustments provided on the shock absorbers.
In more expensive vehicles, the valves can be adjusted remotely, allowing the driver to control the ride at will while the vehicle is in motion.
Additional control can be provided by computer dynamic valve control that responds to sensors, providing a smooth ride and firm suspension when needed, allowing ride height to be adjusted or even controlled.
Ride height control is particularly useful for highway vehicles that are occasionally used on rough roads, as it can improve handling and reduce air resistance by lowering the vehicle when driving on improved highways.
Radiators, fans, and/or liquid cooling prevent or delay shock attenuation and failure (oil leaks) due to overheating
